Pets vs. Animals:
Many wild species have a vibrant array of personalities, temperaments, and level of acceptance regarding an Avatars presence! Some can be calm, others could be wary, and more still could be agitated, or aggressive.
Known species, listed within the Encyclopeda, have a given domestication level, describing how an average, wild member of a species behaves around sentient persons.
Individuals can raise their domestication level, by spending time with it and bonding through training. Those who raise their level to 'Companion' can take on larger feats, such as hunting or facing off in battle.
Domestication:
Most wild species can be tamed in some form or another, whether that's tempting a cautious woodland critter over with some nuts, to sneaking into the dangerous mothering nests & deftly swiping a still-warm egg (which doesn't mean settlements will accept your bringing in aggressive, or labeled'species!).
The more time you spend with your new curious companion, the stronger your bond, opening up what you can do!
All manner of being will do better tasks if they've shelter, food & enrichment!
Creatures:
What could be initially seen as being a machine, golem, or 'entity'; sometimes mistaken for an abstract animal.
These are living things which have been altered, created-by, or impacted by magic. They're often void of a sense of 'self' but still act in manners that could be both beneficial and harmful; this includes objects enchanted to take on work (a 'self-writing' quill, treasure chests with teeth in order to protect someone's hoard, etc[/i])
Many creatures were objects, animals, beings and things which were used in devastating wars & conflict, and many of these entitles are still acting on their given instruction. Nearly all common folk will avoid creatures outright, as a creatures will is undetermined and safety around these beings are not guarenteed!
