There are boundless rumors' about how one could avoid it, extend a life, or even surpass it, but evidence of these legends having a grain of truth are few and far between...
What could be waiting on the other side of everything?

Guidelines:
. settlements have cemeteries where your Avatar can be laid to rest
. Bodies can be lost to the wilds...
. items, pets, houses and everything owned by the deceased will be passed onto next-of-kin, or other close-companion

The Final Curtain:
Your Avatars/Sentient Companions falling in a fight, does not mean The End!:
a.) Choose to follow through to an offered Afterworld.
While dying, a particular Afterworld will be offered to your ailing OC; depending on the chosen faith, a particular deity will reach out and grant the Avatars' consciousness passage to their world. There are many tasks that await those who cross over to these places, and there are rumors of grandeur and treasure to those who 'complete' a cycle through to the end...
b.) Your Avatar can become a spirit.
see: Immortality
In likeness to their original body, an immortal Avatar can become a ghost/spirit!
You'll never age, become thirsty, hungry, or tired, but you won't be able to tame, hunt, or take part in anything. As a spirit, your Avatar only remembers: where they lived, what killed them, their last day/night alive
Unable to carry on to an Afterworld, they cannot interact with the physical world. Only skilled sorcerers can see and hear them, and if there's an unkind practitioner, they may steal you away and put your consciousness into an Arcane Object.
A spirit can either find a Synthetic Body, or attempt to find a way to cross into their Afterworld.
c.) Your Avatar can be moved into a synthetic body.
see: Immortality
If your Avatar is a spirit, they can be moved into an alternative body!
With the right magic, energy, and resources, you can see about attaching your Avatars' soul/personality/consciousness into a fake body. There are different limitations/powers that come with individual body types. Loosing a synthetic body is the same as dying, and you'll have the choice to either continue your passing into an Afterworld, or become a spirit again.
d.) Your Avatar can be resurrected.
Not for the weak or faint of heart, the entirety of your Avatar can be asked to breathe again. Yanking their consciousness back from their chosen Afterworld, there are many limitations that come with being resurrected from the dead- the state of your Avatars body, determines just how long a resurrection can last...
e.) You can choose disbursement.
The one true finality. Your Avatar is gone; through and through. No Afterworld, spirit, body for resurrections, or any other hereafter. This is complete death, best suited for those who are once-and-for-all finished with their roleplaying experience. Your Avatar will be archived with their home/gardens, with resources/items given away through the nearest settlements center.

The Body:
There are a multitude of places where one could pass-away, from a lethal fight deep in the wilds to passing away in the favorite armchair in a comfortable home. However a passing occurs, most bodies are taken under the wing of the settlement they're found in.
If passing within or near a Settlement such as cities, towns, and villages, they'll be buried in the area's individual Cemetery. Players can choose a headstone image, name or title, and a short descriptive blurb that will be carved into the stone.
If passing deep in the wilderness such as jungles or mountains without any way to haul the body home, your Avatar/Companion will be lost to the wilderness and it's native ecosystem. Arcane-players could potentially find the unrested bones and use the lingering soul for their own nefarious purposes... best to see if a close family, friend or companion can find a way to put your lingering soul to rest!

Passing of the Will:
Everything that was owned by the Avatar, will be passed along to the Avatar that was closest to them.
This could be next-of-kin, distant-relative, or a very close friend! In leu of an Avatar not having anyone and passing away, a Player is allowed to create a brand-new Avatar with a 'loose story' about how the deceased knew them, and the relationship the pair had, good or bad. This would allow a passage of items/house/pets from a players deceased Avatar to a new one!
If a player wants to dust off their hands completely, all of the deceased's belongings will be redistributed through the nearby settlements to other players; Items will be auctioned off, pets will be put up for adoption, and house-threads will be archived.
________________________________________________________________
Afterworld:
There are several believed-to-be Afterworlds; planes of reality that exist beyond life, and that are only accessible to those who've passed away. Your Avatars alignments, beliefs and faith, all play a role in how their soul is received in an Afterworld.
+Positive Morality offers boons in the Afterworld, and offers a form that 'follows order' and euphoria.
-Negative Morality denotes curses in the Afterworld, traps you within a form that 'submits to chaos' and agony.
________________________________________________________________
Faith:
Deities have entire worlds accessible to their following, with more devout followers granted a 'higher status' within the specific world. When passing into death, the Avatar will be pulled into their deities world to live an 'in-between life', upon completing their 'cycle' on this deity-world they'll have a chance to be reborn within Kokoata again!
Faithless or devout Atheists will pass away completely, leaving only a gravestone behind...
Immortal souls may linger on as a spirit, keeping only snippets of their old memories. Your (now ghostly) Avatar could potentially be infused with a synthetic body & regain a phsycial form, become a familiar for an Arcane, or move on to the afterlife...
